Preparation
A finish built on proper preparation
The visible result comes from the sealer, but the quality of the project begins before the first coat is applied. Applying new product over dirt, trapped moisture, efflorescence, incompatible coatings or unstable joint material can lead to an uneven appearance and premature problems.
We inspect the pavers and existing finish, identify visible concerns and recommend a scope that fits the surface. Some projects need a standard clean, sand and seal. Others need stain treatment, additional drying time, stripping, repairs by another trade or a small test area before the final approach can be confirmed.
That assessment matters because pavers are not all the same. Concrete pavers, clay brick, travertine, marble and other natural stones absorb products differently and do not always suit the same finish.
What we do
Paver sealing services
Four distinct scopes, quoted on what the surface needs rather than a single package price.

Cleaning, sanding and sealing
Refresh the color and finish of suitable paver driveways, patios and pool decks. We clean the surface, prepare the joints where needed and apply a compatible sealer for the appearance you want.
Our complete maintenance service for suitable concrete pavers. We clean the surface and joints, allow appropriate drying time, install joint sand, clear excess material and apply the selected sealer under suitable conditions.
Our standard joint material is dry silica sand unless the accepted proposal states otherwise. Polymeric sand is a different system with its own preparation and installation requirements, so it is used only when specifically included.

Sealer stripping and restoration
Cloudy, peeling or patchy old sealer needs assessment before another coat. We identify the existing finish and recommend stripping or other corrective preparation when it is appropriate for the surface.
Old sealer may turn cloudy, white, blotchy, sticky or uneven. In other cases, incompatible layers or repeated applications create a heavy buildup. We evaluate whether stripping or another corrective process is practical before new sealer is applied.
Stripping is specialized restoration work, not a guaranteed return to brand new condition. The outcome depends on the existing product, the number of layers, surface porosity, previous repairs and how deeply the coating has penetrated. We explain those variables before the work begins.

Paver tinting and color restoration
Clear sealer enhances existing color. Suitable concrete pavers with severe fading may benefit from tinting when enhancement alone falls short. A sample area can help establish the expected result.
For severely faded concrete pavers, cleaning and clear sealer may not restore the color a customer expects. Tinting can help create a more uniform, refreshed appearance when the surface is a suitable candidate.
Because existing color, repairs, absorption and wear influence the outcome, tint projects are evaluated individually and may begin with a sample area.

Natural stone sealing
Protect travertine, marble and other outdoor stone with a product chosen for the material and its use. We explain natural-look and color-enhancing options, including compatible penetrating treatments.
Travertine and other natural stones need a product selected for their porosity, location, finish and moisture exposure. A penetrating sealer is often the preferred approach because it protects within the pores while preserving a more natural appearance and allowing vapor movement.
Topical or high-gloss finishes may be available by request for some stone surfaces, but they can change color, sheen, texture and slip characteristics. We discuss those tradeoffs before recommending a system.

Finish
Choosing the right sealer
The sealer decides how the surface looks, how it behaves when wet and how it ages. There is no single correct answer for every property.
Color enhancement and sheen are separate choices
Choose how much you want the paving’s color to change, then decide how much shine you want. Some matte sealers deepen color, while others create very little visible enhancement. Natural stone can also have a color-enhancing penetrating treatment without a glossy surface coating. The product and material determine which options are suitable.
| Appearance goal | Color change | Sheen and selection |
|---|---|---|
| Enhanced gloss on suitable concrete pavers | Deeper existing color | Visible gloss; Aqua Force’s most requested water-based finish. |
| Enhanced matte on suitable concrete pavers | Deeper existing color | Lower sheen where a compatible enhancing matte product is suitable. |
| Natural appearance on suitable paving | Little visible change | Low or minimal sheen; product-specific protection and appearance. |
| Natural appearance on travertine or marble | Little visible change | Compatible penetrating or impregnating treatment, selected for the stone. |
| Enhanced appearance on natural stone | Richer existing tones | Compatible penetrating enhancer where appropriate; a sample helps show the change. |
High gloss water based
Our most requested finish for concrete pavers. A professional water-based sealer that deepens color and creates a clean, high-gloss appearance. The final sheen depends on the paver, porosity, existing condition, number of coats and application rate.
A water-based system can offer strong visual enhancement with easier odor and application management than many solvent-based products. It is not automatically the right choice for every surface, especially where an old incompatible coating remains.
Natural look and penetrating
Customers who prefer little or no visible sheen may choose a penetrating or natural-look system when compatible with the surface.
These products are commonly considered for natural stone, pool areas and projects where vapor permeability and a less coated appearance are priorities.
Slip resistance and pool areas
Any sealed surface can feel different when wet, and gloss may make that change more noticeable. Where appropriate, an approved traction additive can be included. It can improve texture but cannot eliminate the possibility of slipping.
Pool decks and other wet areas should be evaluated with appearance, comfort, drainage and traction in mind.
Step by step
Our paver sealing process
Six stages, in order. Each one exists because skipping it shows up in the finish later.
Inspection and product planning
We identify the paver or stone, inspect the existing coating, discuss the preferred finish and note drainage, stains, repairs, moisture and access. If product compatibility is uncertain, further testing or a sample area may be recommended.
Surface and joint cleaning
The pavers and joints are professionally cleaned to remove surface buildup and prepare the area for the next steps. Specialty stain treatment is quoted when needed because rust, oil, irrigation staining, efflorescence and organic discoloration require different chemistry and may not respond fully.
Moisture and weather review
We check the paving’s moisture condition and the forecast against the selected product’s instructions. Some professional systems permit application to a damp surface; others require additional drying. We confirm the surface and weather meet the requirements before sealing and adjust the schedule when necessary.
Joint sand installation
Dry silica sand is swept into suitable paver joints to support the installation and improve its finished appearance. Sand is not an adhesive, and normal weather, drainage, cleaning, traffic, insects and joint design can move it over time.
Sealer application
The selected product is applied at the coverage rate and method appropriate for the pavers. The crew monitors absorption and appearance throughout the application rather than assuming every section will accept the product identically.
Cure and return to use
Before you use the finished area, we explain when foot traffic, vehicles, furniture and irrigation may return. These times depend on the product and conditions. A surface that is ready for light use may still be curing. Follow the project’s written aftercare instructions rather than a single timing rule for every sealer.
Expectations
What professional sealing can and cannot do
Being straight about this up front is why our estimates hold up once the work starts.
On a suitable surface, sealing can
- Deepen or preserve paver color
- Create a more finished, uniform appearance
- Make routine cleaning easier
- Help stabilize joint sand
- Reduce the rate at which certain contaminants penetrate
Sealing will not
- Repair or replace damaged pavers
- Correct settlement or drainage issues
- Fix loose coping or cracked pavers
- Address a failing substrate or structural movement
- Make pavers maintenance free
Sealer is not a repair product. We point out visible concerns so the right work happens in the right order, even when that means another trade goes first.
1 year
Residential paver sealing includes a one-year limited workmanship warranty unless the accepted scope states otherwise.
Residential workmanship warranty
It covers qualifying premature sealer failure directly caused by our preparation, product selection, mixing or application.
Product performance, surface conditions, moisture, wear, drainage, outside contamination and maintenance can all affect results, so the complete coverage and exclusions remain in the current warranty terms.
Commercial and HOA sealing warranties apply only when they are specifically stated in the accepted proposal.

The Florida problem
Why pavers change so quickly in South Florida
Pavers here face intense ultraviolet exposure, frequent rain, irrigation, vehicle traffic and year-round organic growth. Joint sand washes or migrates, color becomes muted and porous surfaces absorb stains more easily.
Around pools, constant moisture and sunscreen residue create a different maintenance challenge than a driveway exposed to hot tires and automotive fluids.
Sealing cannot stop weather or eliminate maintenance, but a correctly prepared and compatible system can help the installation hold a more finished appearance, reduce absorption and make routine cleaning easier.
The key is treating the paver field as a system. Surface, joints, moisture, drainage, previous coatings and intended use all matter.
Surfaces
Concrete, natural stone and clay brick need different plans

Concrete pavers
Often good candidates for color-enhancing topical sealers, including our most requested high-gloss water-based finish. Absorption can vary where pavers have faded, been replaced or received previous coatings.

Travertine, marble and natural stone
Usually benefit from a penetrating, vapor-permeable system that protects within the pores while preserving a more natural appearance. Some topical finishes may be considered by request, but they change sheen, texture and wet-surface behavior.

Clay and Chicago brick
Can be highly porous and may contain age-related color variation, mineral deposits or previous treatments. Product choice and application rate must follow the actual surface rather than a one-size-fits-all package.
Pricing
What determines the cost of paver sealing
Pricing depends on measured area, paver or stone type, current coating, joint condition, staining, access, moisture, number of coats and the selected finish.
Stripping, tinting and specialty stain correction are separate restoration steps because they require different labor and products.
After inspection, Aqua Force provides a defined scope so the estimate reflects the actual surface instead of an advertised square-foot number that may not fit the project.
